It's better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody

I love movies. Love them til there's nothing left to love. The one thing I love more than movies is movies with great fashion. There are a lot of amazing costume stylists out there in Hollywood and my god, this industry would be nothing without them!

I was recently watching The Talented Mr. Ripley and was blown away by the costumes. This movie is perfect. Perfect scenery, perfect pacing, perfect suspense, perfect actors, and most importantly, perfect wardrobe. I was sitting down, thinking to myself, wow, everything they're wearing is spot on and hey, that seems like something I would wear which is even more amazing because this film came out in 1999. That's right, 11 years ago! It goes to show how timeless this film has become.

The story follows a very young Matt Damon (fresh off his Oscar win for Best Writing shared with Ben Affleck for Good Will Hunting) who plays Tom Ripley, who in short is a lying, manipulative, homosexual psycho who goes to great lengths to get what he wants with no regard to whoever he hurts. Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Cate Blanchett also star in the thriller that received 5 Oscar nods (one of them being Best Costume Design). If you're up for an amazing oldie during the winter months before us, check this movie out. I know it may not be in the norm of someone's cup of tea, but trust me: It will have you saying what the hell in the best way possible.

Below are some screen grabs from the movie:

Summer casual.

Don't you just hate how good they look?

I will kill for those sun glasses.

Red lips + Fur coat =  success.

They both look so good!

What a stunner.

Well dressed nerd.

She's wearing a leopard print coat and hat...and pulling it off.

True to the 1950's form in which the film is set.

Check out her waist!

Super Creepy #1!

Gwyneth in this amazing coat.

Rocking some great eye wear.

This was Jude Law's second best outfit. I couldn't find the other shot, but his best outfit involved him wearing this amazing hat as well.

Perfect layering of a suit and jacket.

Rockin' the silk scarf, like in Jess's last post.

This picture is just beautiful

Cate, looking gorgeous. Check out them earrings!

They both look amazing in this shot.

This gown Cate Blanchett is wearing is amazing.

Matt belting out a tune

Super Creepy #2!
Imagine dressing like this everyday

Mmmm!

And my favourite picture of Mr. Damon...

I normally hate corduroy, but he's made it look good.
