High-Five Sundays

My Dad, a black coffee drinker and a hip, hip dude, has a pretty sweet collection of mugs.

021

…This morning’s mug choice…

A caffeine consumer myself, I’ve always admired a good-looking mug. Perhaps one day when my dollar’s flow more freely I’ll start a collection like my dad. But for today, I’ll settle with sharing my Top Five Mug Styles >>

5. Functional >>

Sometimes I crave a little more from my coffee mug than just drinking. Added storage or information about what’s in my cup is always a plus.

This Pantone mug has colour swatches around the rim so you can match the perfect milk-coffee ratio every time.

14

Though technically not for coffee, this mug still makes my list due to its handy hidden storage on the saucer for a tea bag.

29

I wonder how many minutes of wasted time I’ve clocked having to rotate my cup every time the handle is on the wrong side. No longer!

Bonus = compartment for cookies. Downside = less space for liquids.

4. Trompe L'oeil-ee >>

Sometimes things look better when they’re made to look like other stuff.

Apparently these camera lens mugs are just prototypes. A high-five for anyone who can locate the real thing.

3. Souvenir-ee

Sometimes the best place about visiting somewhere is the lame souvenirs you take back with you. Other times, your tacky take-home reminds you of a pleasant vacation long-gone while you sip your third cup of the day at your shitty shitty desk job.

2. Word-ee

Puns, personalization, and dirty words are a plus.

That’s exactly what I’d say too.

1. Designer-ee

Anything that makes me feel more creative, smarter, and wittier than everyone else and looks good is cool with me.

Zero-Gravity-Mug-designed by xu54

Created by Shanghai based designer XU54, this “zero gravity” mug will apparently stand as pictured by itself due to it’s balanced design.

And lastly, this one goes out to everyone in my web design class >>

If web design class will teach me nothing else, it will still all be worth it for giving me the ability to understand this mug.

Check it out: OSBORN

Osborn is very remnant of Tom's, a brand of similar beginnings and story. I think both these shoe companies are doing something great and I cant wait to purchase some. I have a feeling this will appeal to you Commoners so I share to you this great online find. Check it out.

"Co-founder Aaron Osborn, whose family runs one of the largest orphanages in Guatemala, stumbled upon the idea for Osborn in 2007 when he met an out-of-work cobbler while doing charitable work in the country. He and co-founder, Carla Osborn, were searching for a way to combine humanitarian efforts with a fashion project. This search led to Osborn Shoes. That first cobbler still works with them full time, as do a small driven team of 30 gifted artisans. Nestled in the volcanic mountains outside Guatemala City, these artisans craft shoes in a manufacturing environment dedicated to integrity and quality. All the materials for each shoe are individually hand-cut and each shoe is assembled by hand. Osborn’s vertically integrated manufacturing practice establishes a work environment that is sweat-shop free, worker driven and brand focused. Each shoe is signed by its maker, as a testament to the sense of pride for the maker, as well as its wearer."
Aaron and Carla Osborn

Doesn't this SCREAM Jessica Matthew?
Doesn't this SCREAM Siobhan Dreelan?

Shoes from this company are on my to buy list (and i'm not even a big shoe guy!). To learn more about Osborn Shoes, you should check out and even purchase some here. Their blog is pretty cool too.

Nice!

If you haven't already, check them ouuuuuut.

High Five...Wednesdays?

I've been bad. My lack of posting has been due to school prep and laziness...but I want to share this now.
The Globes happened last Sunday and my god, there were gorgeous women everywhere. Jess and I had a chance to review all of the dresses a couple of days ago, and now I want to share my top 5 women who stole the night. Normally I dont like bright colors but this season it seemed to be good. Most of my picks are outside of my normal color choices but hooray for change!

 Better late than never, right??

5. Tied for 5th....
Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier

Mila Kunis in Vera Wang
4. Jane "sexy" Fonda
Jane Fonda in George Hobeika
3. Tied for 3rd...
Angelina Jolie in Versace

Anne Hathaway in Giorgio Armani
2. Emma Stone (who was so close to being my number one)
Emma Stone in Calvin Klein
And my 1 choice goes to.....
January Jones in Versace. Hot damn. Why wouldn't she be # 1?

I'm sure my partner would disagree on some of my choices, but I'm most certain we both share the same love and drool for January Jones. And Christina Hendricks (not on the list). Va-va-vooooom.

I love awards season.
None of these images are ours.
